The weather was perfect, the sun seemed to kiss earth, Christine and Jonathan were married on a perfect October weekend.
There is so much I want to say about this wedding… how much these two have been through together, how truly miraculous the day was, how I wept from behind my camera through their vows, how their wedding party seemed to love them almost as much as they love each other… I could probably fill a book.
It was the highest honor to witness every moment of this special day, to capture it in its entirety. If getting to do this for a living is a dream, I don’t want to wake up.
I asked Christine if she would send me a piece of her written vows. They are too true and too stunning not to share with you.
“I vow to love you when it is golden hour and we are reveling in the creation God has so kindly made and I vow to love you when we are sitting in bed, rubbing our eyes in frustration and feeling suffocated by conflict.
In moments when I’m feeling really gutsy and brave, I vow to boldly defend our marriage from any confusion or darkness that attempts to flood in. But in moments when I am feeling totally freaked and am having trouble discerning up from down, I still vow to stand guard over our marriage.
My beloved, I vow to serve you when I am bubbling with strength and joy and I also vow that I will seek to serve you even when I am in places of deep suffering.
I vow to apologize and forgive you when grace is flowing easily and I am feeling really mature inside. My dear, I also vow to forgive you and apologize when I am feeling super angsty and annoyed at everything around me.
Jonny, I vow that I will always play with you and adventure with you. Even when I’m feeling apathetic and everything around us feels dull, I promise to seek the wonder God has given us and to encourage you to seek it too.
And most importantly, my darling, our Father waits at the end of this life, the edge of the shore as it were & I vow to run alongside you to him. In moments where we feel spiritually full and also moments when fear and complacency seep in — I promise to race alongside of you and see you to the shore.”
